Christmas was hectic as usual, but full of family, food and gifts aplenty. I did finish reading the book "Fourth Dawn" by the Thoenes out loud Christmas night. It puts the movie about the nativity to shame. There are still 2 more books about the nativity, but I don't know if I will get to read them before next Christmas out loud. This morning the tree was removed and everything Christmas put away. I have become a scrooge of sorts as far as this holiday is concerned. It has never been my favorite. Not to dismiss Christ's birthday, but I really despise all the commercialism that goes with it.
All the craziness of coming and going, buying and wrapping can be exhilarating for some, but I prefer the quiet mellow time with my family. Vaughn is usually off during Christmas holidays for an extended time. I truly enjoy those days once Christmas is over. We connect again as a couple without the stress of work or school. He is a great husband and father and we so relish his time home.
This year we will travel for the New Years to the mountains. One of Vaughn's cousins will be married. It is rare that we see the Hopson side of the family, but when we do it is always such a blessing. We look forward to spending time with them.
